When You Leave Your Comfort Zone And Enter Into The Mystery Of The Unknown

By Rúna Bouius | Waking Leaders Up To Their Power — TRUE Power

Have you ever found yourself striving for something — a new skill, a career advancement, or a significant life change? Whether you want to learn to dance, sign up for a Ph.D. program, ask for that promotion, or move to a new continent like I did, you are in a constant bid for power.

You might be thinking, “But I’m not the power-hungry type!” Perhaps you’ve experienced power in its negative forms — being on the receiving end of an abuse of power at work or at home. We see power misused daily in the news by politicians, corporate tycoons, and warlords. However, the truth is, we are all seeking power, even if we aren’t fully aware of it.

Imagine planting a seed in your garden. From the moment it’s in the ground, that seed is fighting for power. It needs water, warmth, air, light, and nutrients to grow. It struggles to push through the soil and reach the sun. Your care and attention help it thrive. This process is a powerful metaphor for us as humans. From the moment we are conceived, we begin our own bid for power — to grow, survive, and ultimately thrive.

Every time you consciously pursue a goal, you’re seeking power — power to increase your capabilities, strengthen your resolve, make a bigger impact, and enhance your overall well-being. But this pursuit of power comes at a price. There’s often a fear of failure, the uncertainty of venturing into the unknown, and the significant investment of time, energy, and sometimes money. Yet, when you step out of your comfort zone and succeed, like the thriving tree, you feel empowered and more confident, ready to tackle the next challenge. This is how you grow, evolve, and continuously increase your power.

In today’s rapidly changing world, the demand for power is greater than ever. Change is moving faster than our systems, institutions, and infrastructures can keep up with. This means that you — and all of us — are being asked to expand your mindset, shift your worldview, and take on new challenges, whether you planned for them or not. We are called to find new solutions and co-create an alternative way of leading and living. To do that, we need higher levels of power.

So, embrace the power you need to get things done — be power, be TRUE Power!
