How Love Guided Legendary CEO To Massive Success

3 min readApr 19, 2025

Easer is here. Happy Easter!

I’m reminded that at its core, this holiday celebrates the ultimate expression of love — a love so powerful it overcame death itself.

This sacred season offers us a perfect moment to reflect on how love can transform not just our spiritual lives, but our leadership approach in these challenging times.

Love: The Missing Leadership Ingredient

Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending the “Love Unleashed” retreat at the HeartMath Institute. What struck me most was the compelling scientific evidence they presented about love’s tangible power — not just as an emotion, but as a force that can literally change our physiology, decision-making, and impact on others and the world.

Their research validates what I’ve long suspected: we cannot effectively lead through logic alone. The most pressing challenges facing our organizations and communities today require us to connect with the wisdom of our hearts as well as our minds.

In times of uncertainty and polarization, what if love is precisely the leadership approach we need most?

From Theory to Practice: Leadership Transformed by Love

This isn’t just philosophical musing. In a recent article, “Leading with Love,” Alan Mulally — the legendary former CEO who transformed both Boeing and Ford Motors — shared how love and service formed the foundation of his leadership philosophy.

Mulally’s approach wasn’t about soft skills at the expense of results. Rather, his love-centered leadership created the psychological safety, clarity, and unity that enabled remarkable organizational transformations during periods of extreme challenge.

Your Leadership Journey

As you celebrate Easter this weekend, I invite you to consider:
✅ Where might leading with love transform your most difficult leadership challenges?
✅ How could connecting to “what has heart and meaning” change your decision-making?
✅ What would your team, organization, or community look like if love became your central operating principle?

If you’d like to explore this further, I recommend two resources:
My article from last year: “Love Matters More Than You Think In The Workplace.”

The powerful interview with Alan Mulally on “Leading with Love.”

In this Easter season that celebrates love’s transformative power, perhaps the most revolutionary leadership act is to bring more genuine love into our work and organizations.

Wishing you a heart-centered Easter weekend filled with renewal and connection, and the infinite power of LOVE.
